Heinrich Out of the Dark Blaufränkisch 2022 from Weingut Heinrich represents a distinctly natural red wine that reflects the terroir of the southeastern slopes of Leithagebirge in Austria. Grapes were hand-harvested in late September and early October 2022, spontaneously fermented after seven days of whole cluster maceration, and the wine matured in amphorae and large wooden barrels before bottling, unfiltered and without added sulfites.
In the glass, aromas of small red berries, sour cherries, and strawberries are revealed, complemented by fine minerality and subtle herbal notes, while the palate is dominated by refreshing acidity and a vibrant character, with almost imperceptible tannins. This wine is energetic, well-structured, and drinkable, better served chilled than too warm, and an excellent partner for spicy dishes such as chilli con carne or ham pâté.
