Pinot Noir 2023 is a clearly expressed dry red wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from their vineyards around Nikolaevo in the Thracian Lowland in Bulgaria. It comes from a warmer Mediterranean climate, allowing this traditionally fine varietal type to develop aromatic layering, focused on red berries and an elegant texture.
On the nose, the wine reveals fresh notes of red cherry, raspberry, and subtle spicy tones, with discreet hints of smoke and an earthy character. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with acidity and fine tannins contributing to balance, while minerality stems from the terroir and winemaking techniques that emphasize varietal purity.
This Pinot Noir is characterized by a refined finish and light spicy traces – a style that pairs well with simpler dishes such as roasted poultry and mushrooms, as well as more complex red meats and medium-intensity cheeses. Although not a wine with great potential for long-term aging like Burgundian Pinots, it offers a pleasant and accessible experience of authentic Bulgarian Pinot Noir.
