Villány is one of the most renowned and esteemed wine regions of Hungary, particularly recognized for its intense, structured red wines. Located in the far south of the country, near the border with Croatia, this region enjoys a warmer climate and abundant sunny days, giving it a distinctive character and recognizable style.

Villány is considered the warmest wine region in Hungary. Gentle hills, limestone and clay soils, as well as long and warm summers create ideal conditions for varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and also Portugieser, which is the region’s signature variety. Cabernet Franc holds a special place, considered the leading variety in Villány, producing wines of depth, maturity and pronounced character. Wines from this region are often full-bodied, complex, with pronounced tannins and great aging potential.
