Coral Wines

A small change in the glass, a big impact on the taste

Choosing the right wine glass can completely change the experience of your favorite wine. The shape and size of the glass affect how the aromas are released, how the wine reaches the nose and mouth, and thus the complete enjoyment. In addition to the shape of the glass itself, the thickness of the glass and the way the glass is held also play an important role.

Thinner glass allows for a more pleasant first contact with the wine, while holding it correctly by the stem or foot helps to maintain a stable temperature. Also, different types of wine require different amounts of space in the glass – some require a wider surface for developing aromas, while others retain their character better in a narrower opening. The right glass does not change the wine, but it can highlight its best qualities and make every sip more thoughtful and enjoyable.

The right glass reveals the hidden aromas of the wine.

Red Wines

For red wines, glasses with a wide bowl and a large balloon are recommended. This allows enough contact of the wine with the air and opens up rich aromas and tannins. The glass should be tall enough so that the wine can freely “breathe.”

White Wines

White wines are better served in narrower glasses with a smaller balloon. This shape preserves freshness and aroma, while reducing the influence of heat from the hands on the temperature of the wine.

Rosé Wines

Rosé wines are served in similar glasses as white wines, but you can use a slightly wider balloon to highlight fruity notes and refreshing structure.

Sparkling Wines

For sparkling wines (champagne, prosecco), tall and narrow glasses – flutes – are used. They retain the bubbles and emphasize the freshness and elegance of the sparkling wine.

Tips:

  • Do not fill the glass to the top – 1/3 to 1/2 of the volume is sufficient.
  • Keep the glasses clean and free of soap odors.
  • Hold the glass by the stem or glass foot so that the heat from your hands does not affect the temperature of the wine.
