Wassmann Kékfrankos 2020 is a quintessential red wine crafted from 100% Kékfrankos grapes sourced from the renowned vineyards of Város Hegy and Hidegkút in Hungary’s Villány wine region. It is produced at Wassmann Winery, which adheres to biodynamic principles, employing minimal intervention and a natural approach to fermentation and aging in used barrique barrels.
The aroma clearly reveals ripe cherries, cocoa, and delicate vanilla notes, complemented by subtle aromatic traces of bitter almond and herbal nuances. On the palate, the wine is juicy and balanced, with a pronounced fruit texture and fine tannins, culminating in a long, soft finish with hints of dark chocolate and spicy undertones.
The production process is based on spontaneous fermentation and malolactic conversion, with the wine aging for nearly 18 months in wooden barrels before bottling. This imparts additional complexity and structure. Thanks to its excellent balance and pronounced acidity, the wine can be enjoyed now, yet also possesses solid potential for further development in the bottle until approximately 2030.
