Blaufränkisch 2019 from Weingut Heinrich is a classic Austrian red that highlights Burgenland’s terroir. The grapes were hand-harvested in mid-September 2019, spontaneously fermented with whole-bunch maceration, and the wine was then aged for a long time in large wooden barrels before being bottled in January 2024.
In the glass, aromas of dark berries, sour cherries, spicy and earthy notes lead, with lively acidity and a soft tannin structure that brings depth and elegance. The minerality expresses the limestone-tinged slopes’ terroir, and the balanced profile makes this wine an excellent match for roast game, mushroom goulash, or mature cheeses. With 12.5% alcohol and a cellaring potential of 6 to 10 years, it is a harmonious wine that reflects Blaufränkisch from an outstanding vintage.
