Villa Melnik Rare Varieties – Ruen 2020 is a dry, still red wine from the Melnik wine region in Bulgaria, made from the rare grape variety Ruen. The wine was aged for 24 months in Bulgarian oak barrels and bottled in a limited release of 2,000 bottles. It has an intense, dark colour and a complex aromatic profile with notes of graphite, leather, forest floor, plum and coffee, while on the palate it is full-bodied, with elegant, velvety tannins and a spicy finish. Recommended with game dishes, pheasant and mature cheeses. The “Rare Varieties” series reflects the winery’s commitment to preserving and reviving indigenous local varieties.
